This new course is delivered by members of Oldham’s Complex Safeguarding Team and representatives from services supporting children and adults in Oldham, and links into the Serious Youth Violence priority of the Children’s Safeguarding Partnership. It aims to equip practitioners with enhanced knowledge and skills to identify and respond appropriately to the exploitation of children, young people and adults.

The purpose of the course is to raise awareness about Criminal, Sexual and Financial exploitation including Modern Slavery and Cuckooing, and to help practitioners recognise the potential signs of exploitation and risk factors. The session focuses on how best to offer help and support, the local response pathways and local practitioner resources available; highlights national and local learning; and covers aspects including the point of view of survivors, complex safeguarding, intersectionality and transitions planning for young people preparing for adulthood.
